Your Industrial Maintenance and Automation Career Awaits

  • One location – they will work at the same manufacturing plant most, if not every day.  Other career fields will travel to different sites per contracted job.

  • Indoors – industrial mechanics typically work in a climate-controlled atmosphere sheltered from the elements. 
  • Shift differential – some companies run 24/7, but all IMAT OAC offer shift differential to compensate for the work schedule.
  • Welder – techs must know basic welding skills for repair purposes. 
  • Mechanic – an industrial maintenance tech is essentially a mechanic that doesn’t work on vehicles. 
  • Fabricator/machinist – an industrial maintenance tech welds for repair purposes, and uses the metal lathe and mill to fabricate machinery parts.  
  • Electrician – while techs are not master electricians, they are trained to keep the facility open and the production machinery operational.
  • Computer programing – people that like to work with their hands but are also interested in computer programming enjoy working with modern machinery/PLC’s required to keep production moving. 
  • Engineering – techs work side-by-side with engineers and possess some of the same skills needed in a manufacturing facility.  
  • Essential workers – the manufacturing industry never stops working. 
  • High-demand career field – we can’t train people fast enough to fill the jobs in Utah.
