This course provides Heavy Duty Diesel and Industrial Maintenance students with a fundamental understanding of computers and computing. Topics include computer hardware, operating systems, and introduction to Microsoft word 2003, Microsoft Excel 2003, Internet navigation, and e-mail applications.

Course Description:
This course will provide students with hands-on training in basic skills and safety. Students will receive detailed training on shop safety, fire safety, proper attire, basic welding, use of electric machinery, and the use of basic tools. Students will be required to pass a safety exam before they are allowed to work in the shop.

Course Description:
This course provides theory and hands-on experience for students on heavy duty brake systems. The course will cover maintenance and repair of air brakes, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), wheel bearing systems, and wheels. Students will learn each component of the brake system, brake function, and component recognition for service needs. Students will perform the necessary repairs or replacement needed to ensure safe operation.

This course provides theory and hands-on experience for students on the maintenance and repair of heavy duty steering and suspension. Instruction covers frame removal, service, and repair; kingpins, tie rods, steering gearbox, and hydraulic brake systems, as well as alignment for both light and heavy duty trucks.
Certificate:Completion of this course certifies proficient understanding and mastery of suspension and steering based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skills Competence is available upon request.

Course Description:
This course will provide theory and hands-on training on basic electrical components and systems, vehicle charging and starting systems, and electrical engine component tune-up and diagnosis. Students will receive detailed training on lights, wiring schematics, circuits, alternators, starter motors, and how to time and adjust the electrical components of engines. Students are required to wire various circuits and use electrical test equipment to troubleshoot alternator, starter motor, and engine electronic components and systems.

This course provides theory and hands-on experience for students on troubleshooting and repair of heavy duty truck air conditioning systems. Instruction covers condensers, check valves, driers, compressors, evaporators, controls, heating and engine cooling systems, operating systems and controls, and refrigerant recovery, recycling, and handling.

Course Description:
This course introduces students to the service and preventive maintenance practices commonly found in the trucking industry. Course content includes inspection and maintenance of basic truck systems including cab and hood, engine systems, electrical systems, frame and chassis, as well as specific types of inspections: circle, drive-on, and full preventive maintenance inspection.

Keyboarding Basics is an introduction to the computer keyboard and keyboarding techniques. Using drills and timed writings, this course helps students increase speed and accuracy to reach 30 WPM on a computer keyboard .

Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
