Prepare students for a rewarding career in the growing field of industrial automation! The focus of our Controllers (PLC’s) course is to advance students from the Motor Controls Course into PLC`s and providing a hands-on learning experience that the students will take back to the job site. Students will spend most of the time working with our PLC hands-on trainers and will discover the basic hardware of various PLC systems. The student will be expected to program and commission several PLC systems. PLC knowledge will set you apart from all other technicians and engineers in automation and robotics.
Competencies (skills you will learn):- Students will know how to properly wire PLC to components
- Students will know how to program and monitor operating ladder logic
- Students will know how to distinguish between inputs and outputs
- Students will have the skills to trouble shooting basic PLC`s and components
This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.
Course Length:The estimated length of this course is 80 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.

Must be 16+ years old to enroll. The Electrical Motor Control course is required before enrolling in PLC 1.
ALL STUDENTS (High school and Adult) must meet with an Industrial Maintenance Faculty member prior to enrolling into this course. Due to limited lab availability a students schedule will also be influenced by the results of this conversation.
Pre-requisites can be waived when employer, student and instructor agree skills and experience are adequate. (such as Custom Fit students)
Textbooks & Materials:Required Supplies: Safety Glasses and digital camera or smarphone for submission of assignments.
Tuition & Fees:Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
