Students will apply their knowledge to practice various cuts, shaving and facial hair design, braiding, hair treatments, salon management including reception and appointment settings, salon ecology.
Certificate:Completion of this course certifies proficient understanding based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skill Competence is available upon request.
This course, in conjunction with the remaining Barbering courses, fulfills requirements for the TATC Certificate of Proficiency for the Barbering program. Completion of the program will also prepare you to sit for the Utah Division of Professional Licensing PSI Barber exam.
This course fulfills requirements for the following Programs: Competencies (skills you will learn):- Perform a minimum of 90 taper cuts
- Perform a minimum of 80 style cuts
- Perform a minimum of 20 razor cuts
- Perform a minimum of 20 beard designs
- Perform a minimum of 50 shaves
- Perform a minimum of 50 braides
- Perform a minimum of 20 hair treatments
- Perform a minimum of 40 reception transactions
- Perform a minimum of 35 salon ecology activities
- Perform a minimum of 125 women's cuts
- Perform a minimum of 120 thermal hair sytling
This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.
Course Length:The estimated length of this course is 700 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.

High school students must be at least in the 11th grade and commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week.
