Oncology is the scientific and medical study of neoplasm. An Oncologist is a specialist in oncology, the branch of medicine dealing with tumors. You will learn how to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant tumors.
Certificate:Completion of this course certifies proficient Medical Assisting skills in the oncology examination based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams.
This course fulfills requirements for the following Programs: Competencies (skills you will learn):- Understand the vocabulary and terminology of oncology
- Learn how to identify different types of cancer and their treatment
- Understand the tests order and diagnosis
- Work with patient cases in oncology
- Know how to schedule referrals for diagnostic tests, biopsies and ultrasounds
- Properly perform patient education for oncology problems
This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.
Course Length:The estimated length of this course is 25 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.

Students must be at least 16 years old, and enrolled in the Clinical Medical Assistant Technician program.

Tuition & Fees:Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
