Student Ambassador Program

The Student Ambassador Program is a leadership opportunity for well-rounded students who are dedicated to mentoring fellow students, and serving and representing Tooele Technical College (Tooele Tech).  Student Ambassadors must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in team environments, and display enthusiasm for Tooele Tech.

Scope

4 Ambassadors at one time. Participation to be evaluated quarterly. The number of Ambassadors will be re-evaluated annually, based on College need.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Tooele Tech course and/or program.
  • Must be in good standing with Tooele Tech.
  • Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline and enthusiasm.

Program Details:

  • Student Ambassadors will serve for a minimum of 3-months.
  • Training:  Each month a member from the Recognition Committee, Faculty, or Staff will conduct a training.

 

Mission of the Tooele Technical College Student Ambassador Program

The mission of a Tooele Tech Student Ambassador is to present a positive and accurate picture of the institution in a professional and welcoming manner and in so doing, provide insight into student life and the value of the Tooele Tech experience. Student Ambassadors conduct themselves enthusiastically in primary campus events and throughout the community.

Student Ambassadors are selected for demonstrated leadership, academic achievement, and Tooele Tech pride to convey the significance of lifelong relationships built at the College. Successful candidates enjoy working with people, are regular participants in co-curricular activities at the College and are keen to share their own Tooele Tech experience with prospective students and families. As a lasting impression of Tooele Tech, Ambassadors maintain a positive attitude, uphold best practices in customer service, and exhibit self-confidence and geniality.

 

Requirements:

  • Express a positive attitude about life and Tooele Technical College.
  • Enrolled as a full-time student at Tooele Tech
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have at least 80% progress.
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills and behaviors
  • Be sensitive and responsive to diverse audiences
  • Comfortable public speaker, prepared to convey information on-the-spot and follow-up with unanswered questions, in an expedient manner.
  • Readiness to present Tooele Tech in a positive light at all times. Student Ambassadors are not technically “off the clock.”
  • Exhibit leadership and initiative: be dependable, display self-discipline and confidence.
  • Attend monthly meetings and training sessions
  • As a representative of Tooele Tech, abide by the rules, regulations and the code of conduct outlined in the Tooele Tech Student Handbook.

  • Receive a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the College President at the end of the service period. The certificate will include the Student Ambassador’s total number of service hours. The end of the service period will occur in the following circumstances: (1) His or her quarter of service is not renewed (following a quarterly review), (2) he or she completes his or her final program at Tooele Tech, or (3) he or she voluntarily resigns.
  • Quarterly, have the opportunity to earn Tooele Tech swag and/or gift card based on hourly participation in College events:
    • Hourly Participation: 1 Hour = 1 Point.
      • 5 Points = Tooele Tech Swag
      • 10 Points = $10 Gift Card
      • 20 Points = Tooele Tech Backpack
      • 30 Points = $25 Gift Card

*Event attendance will be tracked by a sign in/sign out sheet. The names and hours of service will then be sent to a member of the Recognition Committee to record. Said member will keep track of the hours and points for each Student Ambassador.

Points are cumulative, meaning after 30 hours of total service the Student Ambassador will have received all of the gift and swag items listed above.
